Great Private Tour for Coffee & Chocolate Lovers!
Ann is a great person and an excellent tour guide! She was very flexible and understanding when we had a vacation accident a year ago and rescheduled last minute.
My family and friends finally made it to the tour (a year late) in January 2022 and had a great time. Ann asked about our interests to customize the tour and kept everyone engaged. We enjoyed touring the farm and the girls really enjoyed participating with the coffee and chocolate demonstrations.
Ann taught us a lot about coffee and chocolate making process while keeping it fun for the teenagers. Two of them wanted to volunteer for all of the hands on activities.
The farm is nice and I appreciate what they are doing. The views are amazing. A great way to spend a couple hours on Maui.
I highly recommend this tour for any coffee or chocolate lovers!
Mahalo Ann, we can’t thank you enough for a great tour!
Highly recommend for coffee & chocolate lovers
Our tour guide Ann was fantastic. I like the private tour concept – it was all about us, and what we wanted to see! Thank you Ann for your patience, your knowledge of the process was impressive. Our group of 5 all found something of interest and new to us, to see how our beloved coffee and chocolate are in the raw form was very interesting. the additional information about other plants on the farm was also very informative. Ann ensured we knew exactly how to find the farm, and what to expect when we arrived. Really put us “A type” planners at ease – highly recommend
Our family had a wonderful experience during our coffee and chocolate tour. Our host was entertaining, knowledgeable and friendly. The tasting was excellent. It’s not your typical tourist experience but that’s what makes it special.
Hands-On, Mouths-On Experience
Excellent private tour for our group of four adults. We booked this tour with Ann on our last day on Maui. We love both chocolate and coffee so it seemed like a good fit. What a lovely experience. Ann was super knowledgeable about the growing and preparation processes for both products. We learned a lot. Preparing the ancient chocolate drink was super fun and the end result was delicious! We then tasted chocolates from around the world and learned what the terms “single sourced” and “estate” meant so I’ll know more next time I purchase good artisan chocolate. This was a hands-on (and mouths on) experience and was a great way to end our vacation.
Great Private Tour
Really enjoyable 2 hour private tour with our guide Ann. We learned so much about the chocolate making process from the bean to the bar which should be on any chocolate lovers bucket list of things to do in Maui. Ann did a wonderful job of adjusting the tour so my 85 year old Mom could ride in a golf cart since this is a working farm. My 26 year old niece also really loved the tour as well! It was great to have it set up as a private tour! Nice finishing touch was a homemade passion fruit bread to go with the jam we purchased.
Informative and Tasty Time
Had a very nice time on a farm tour that showed the process for making chocolate and coffee. Also tasted several types of chocolate and farm grown coffee. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Also saw some nice views.
Chocolate & Coffee Lovers Must Do!
A great opportunity to stroll through Kupa’a, a small, lovely organic farm in beautiful (Kula) Maui. Not only will you see, touch and taste cocoa and coffee beans, you’ll compare chocolates during a tasting toward the end of the tour! Ann will lead you on a wonderful experience breaking down the process of chocolate and coffee production step by step. She is a wealth of knowledge and really knows her stuff. You will walk away with an appreciation and understanding of how we get to enjoy these two delightful favorites! Well worth it.
Fun and educational way to spend the afternoon with a friend!
so much fun learning about the farm to product process! Our docents Ann and James were very knowledgeable and entertaining. And the sampling of hot chocolate, and unique chocolate varieties was yummy. The view was breathtaking. Mahalo for opening the farm to us in this unique way
We enjoyed the coffee and chocolate tour. A lot of samples are included. Educational tour and great guide.
An Informative Tour
We attended this tour to learn how chocolate is made and that’s exactly what we learned.
The farm is quite small and our tour was intimate with only 2 other couples.
The outhouse for a washroom was very disappointing; however the tour itself was quite good and informative.
Our Tour Guide was lovely and knew everything chocolate. The tour was 2 hours in duration.
We had the opportunity to experience an upcountry outing to learn about a favorite food item – Chocolate! Ann showed us cacao from beginning to finished product. All you might want to learn & more. The walkabout was beautiful with bi-coastal views of Maui and finished off with tasting a wide variety of chocolates and special chocolate drink mix. Do yourself a favor take a drive upcountry for a wonderful outing! Ann is a wonderful tour leader and more than happy to share what she has learned.
Had a great time on the Chocolate tour with Ann! She’s very knowledgeable about the whole growing and production process and I learned a lot about one of my favorite foods!! The tour lasts about 2 hours, there’s never a dull moment. She ran us through crushing the beans, using a fan to remove the unwanted parts, put them through a grinder to get the butter out, and prepared a delicious chocolate concoction for us to enjoy. And we ended with a tasting of chocolates from different parts of the world—yummy! The location has gorgeous views of the island, which doesn’t hurt either. Definitely worth making this part of your Upcountry day!
I didn’t know how much I didn’t know! Best Chocolate (Cacao!) education
I had never really thought about, where does my chocolate come from? Hershey, PA right?!…. not correct… well how about Belgium or Germany? also way off base. I learned so much, but one of my biggest take away was learning about the 20/20 belt. The global Cacao growing region twenty degrees north or south of the Equator, those are the places where Cacao is grown, and dried, and fermented, and then roasted! (just like coffee) before being shipped to places like Hershey and made into the kisses we all know and love.
There was way too much info to re-cap in this review, but it was a very fun and engaging (not to mention Delicious!) way to learn about Chocolate/Cacao and Coffee in one of the most beautiful places on Maui bi-coastal views from an amazing upcountry organic farm wow! what a fun afternoon for everyone in my group.
So cool! Now we know where chocolate comes from!
My five year old daughter and I took the tour together and we were so impressed! First of all the bicoastal views are epic! Our tour guide Ann was super friendly and presented an educational experience in such an intriguing and fun way. We really enjoyed how hands on the tour was. Make sure you have plenty of room on your phone to take photos because there are so many photo ops. We actually got to make a cacao drink straight from the beans and taste it! The chocolate tasting at the end was so delicious and the chocolate tasting wheel was super cool. My favorite was the Madagascar chocolate that was creamy with citrus notes and the coffee was delicious! My daughter was super excited to go to school and tell her classmates that now she knows where chocolate comes from. The farm was magical and charming. At the end of the tour We bought the fresh lilikoi bread and can’t stop thinking about how delicious it was! Definitely i must do on Maui for people of all ages!
Fun and Educational
Ann was an amazing tour guide! She was outstanding and so knowledgeable about both coffee and chocolate. Beautifully set on Kupa’a Farms, it is a great activity for anyone who loves food and a great view. The coffee was so good we ended up bringing a bag home. Highly recommend this tour!
